Accounts Payable Clerk Job Description

Laurel Steel is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will be responsible for processing daily banking, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring timely payments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process daily banking transactions and update records
  • Monitor and verify invoices from Canadian and U.S. vendors
  • Address payment and billing concerns with vendors
  • Create and manage vendor accounts, including legal documentation
  • Match invoices with purchase orders and ensure accurate coding
  • Process cheques, ACH payments, and electronic transfers
  • Monitor and adjust accounts payable transactions according to company policies
  • Assist in preparing month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Support audit documentation and address auditor inquiries
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounts payable
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian and U.S. tax regulations within accounts payable
  • Experience with cross-border transactions
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Preferred Requirements:
  • Previous accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance
