Administrative Support Specialist

At PHSA, we are seeking an experienced Administrative Support Specialist to join our team. As an Administrative Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our department, including scheduling and booking patient appointments, processing referrals, and maintaining databases and records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and book patient appointments and follow-up appointments
  • Receive and register patients upon arrival
  • Perform referral functions, including screening for information and gathering additional/missing information
  • Maintain a variety of records, including data entry and collating information
  • Type and distribute technical and non-technical material, including correspondence and reports
  • Perform receptionist and other clerical duties, including answering telephones and responding to inquiries

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 and two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to keyboard 45 wpm and knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively and physically able to carry out the duties of the position
