Indigenous Recruiter Job Description

About the Role:

The City of Vancouver is seeking an Indigenous Recruiter to join our Human Resources team. As a key member of our recruitment team, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end recruitment process for Indigenous-focused roles, ensuring that we attract and hire the best candidates from our local Indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract Indigenous candidates
  • Manage the recruitment process for Indigenous-focused roles, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates
  • Build relationships with local Indigenous communities, organizations, and leaders to promote the City's Indigenous recruitment initiatives
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to develop job postings, interview questions, and selection criteria that align with the City's equity and inclusion framework
  • Provide coaching and support to Indigenous candidates throughout the recruitment process
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external equity partners to promote the City's Indigenous recruitment initiatives

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • Experience in recruitment, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and history, including First Nations and Urban Indigenous peoples
  • Ability to provide a culturally safe space to support and advise Indigenous candidates
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
