The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our Community Mental Health team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work with children, youth, and families to deliver evidence-based interventions and provide clinical supervision to students and in-home support workers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and family therapy, as well as group interventions, to children and youth up to 19 years of age.
  • Provide clinical supervision to students and in-home support workers.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans in accordance with the mission, philosophies, and vision of the IWK Health Centre.

Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work required.
  • Registered for registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers required.
  • Minimum two (2) years post-masters clinical experience working in child and adolescent mental health services required.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification (NVCI).
  • Demonstrated experience in individual/family therapy and delivery of evidence-based group interventions.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management and community liaison.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated skills in organization and time management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the child welfare system and knowledge of mental health disorders, including anxiety, mood, and disruptive behavior disorders.
  • Candidates must have a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License, regular use of a reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset.
