The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Social Worker to join our Community Mental Health team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary treatment team, you will work with children, youth, and families to deliver evidence-based interventions and support. Your expertise in individual and family therapy, as well as group interventions, will be invaluable in helping us achieve our mission of providing high-quality care to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to children, youth, and families, including individual and family therapy, and group interventions.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Teach and supervise students and in-home support workers.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Social Work required.
  • Registered for registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers required.
  • Minimum two (2) years post-masters clinical experience working in child and adolescent mental health services required.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification (NVCI).
  • Demonstrated experience in individual/family therapy.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of evidence-based group interventions.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management and community liaison.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated skills in organization and time management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the child welfare system and knowledge of mental health disorders, including anxiety, mood and disruptive behavior disorders.
  • Candidates must have a valid Nova Scotia Drivers License, regular use of a reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset.
