We are seeking a dedicated Academic Assistant to support the teaching and learning environment at the University of Ottawa.
About the Job:
The successful candidate will work part-time as an Academic Assistant, supporting the instructor in a winter session course. The role involves attending classes, taking notes, marking papers and assignments, supervising exams, tracking student attendance, preparing visual materials, and communicating with students.
Responsibilities:
- Attend each class and take detailed notes on the topics covered
- Mark papers and assignments submitted by students, providing feedback on their work
- Supervise exams and ensure they are conducted fairly and efficiently
- Keep track of students' attendance and communicate with them as needed
- Prepare visual images and other materials to support the course content
- Communicate effectively with students, responding to their questions and concerns
- Conduct research to support the development of course materials and activities
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in art history, fine arts, or a related field. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
This is a part-time position, with a fixed number of hours per week. The work will be conducted in person, and attendance at all classes is expected.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is estimated to be between $31.89 and $50.25, depending on your qualifications and experience. We offer a competitive compensation package, including benefits and opportunities for professional development.
