About the Role

As a Security Director at Cadillac Fairview, you will be responsible for overseeing the property safety program to ensure compliance with legislative, industry, and company standards. This includes managing the occupational health and safety (OH&S) program, prioritizing workplace safety, and maintaining applicable OH&S legislative codes and company standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the operational security and life safety program, allocating required resources and implementing work schedules/duties in accordance with legislative, company, and operational requirements/standards.
  • Lead the property fire & life safety program, along with the OH&S program, ensuring compliance with applicable legislative codes, industry practices, and company standards.
  • Chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JH&SC) and prioritize occupational health and safety throughout all areas of the workplace.
  • Implement and maintain regular inspections and risk assessments in common areas, work areas, and tenant leased premises to identify and correct hazardous working conditions.
  • Oversee emergency response and business continuity programs, including preparation and upkeep of Emergency Response Plan (ERP), Business Continuity Plan (BCP), and Fire Safety Evacuation Plans.
  • Manage crisis communications to support timely notification of applicable parties in emergencies.
  • Ensure company emergency management standards are maintained, including training for tenants and suppliers, ERP & BCP plans/processes, monthly/annual emergency drills, post-incident debriefs, emergency notifications systems, and the Emergency Response Line (ERL) process.
  • Manage a security incident reporting process to capture, report, and analyze relevant security incident data, providing an accurate picture of security incident patterns.
  • Oversee electronic security systems and technology, ensuring systems operate, monitor, and maintain according to manufacturer's and operational guidelines.
  • Develop and implement a physical security program, ensuring access control is maintained and security measures effectively deter, delay, control, and respond to a wide range of security threats.
  • Respond to calls for service and security-related incidents as required and conduct other operational duties assigned by the General Manager.
Requirements
  • A minimum of years' experience working in a commercial real estate security environment, ideally in positions of increasing responsibility, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of years' security management experience, preferably at a property or properties of complex scope (large, mixed-use facility), or equivalent work experience.
  • A community college diploma (or equivalent business management qualification) in Security/Life Safety, Risk Management, or Criminology-related field is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of collective agreements and security manpower contracts.
  • Proven knowledge in basic accounting, including development and administration of capital and operational department budgets.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail.
  • Familiarity with Security and Life Safety technology (CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, Intrusion) and other security-related systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and regulations in the area of Security and Life Safety management.
  • Sound knowledge of industry techniques and emergent trends in Security and Life Safety management, Risk Management, and Crime Prevention.
