We are a registered not-for-profit charity that helps veterans and first responders dealing with PTSD through artistic blacksmithing.

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Governance Board Member to join our team. As a key member of our board, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of our organization.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Oversee and manage the financial operations of our organization.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian charity financial regulations and CRA requirements.
  • Develop and manage budgets, providing financial oversight and reporting to the board.
  • Coordinate and oversee annual audits and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Work closely with the President and other board members to support the strategic financial planning of the organization.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Engage in fundraising efforts and support the development of financial strategies.
  • Participate in formal and informal meetings to discuss and explain the current financial status, plans, and structure.
  • Ensure a smooth and transparent financial integration process for new board members and volunteers.
  • Support veterans and first responders by understanding their financial needs related to PTSD and OSI symptoms.

**Requirements:**

  • Proven experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within non-profit or charitable organizations.
  • Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and practices for non-profits.
  • Understanding of CRA regulations and compliance requirements for charities.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and planning.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the President and other board members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Training in mental health and mindfulness practices.
  • Experience working with veterans and first responders, particularly those with PTSD and OSI symptoms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and transparency.
  • Willingness to dedicate significant time and effort to the role.
