What's the Opportunity?

As a Recovery Officer within the Credit Management and Recoveries department at Royal Bank of Canada, you will play a crucial role in maximizing recoveries after write-off, thereby minimizing the bank's losses. You will work closely with third-party collection agencies to optimize recoveries for the bank.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle inbound calls from customers, collection agencies, and internal service partners to assist with debt recovery and administration requests.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for designated agencies on our portfolio, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Review and approve settlement proposals from our agencies or customers, resolve complaints, and reconcile agency payments.
  • Monitor and ensure that the Collection Agency is adhering to the guidelines set forth in the Service Agreement through our day-to-day operations.
  • Take initiative to contribute to the team on any gaps in service and assist with other products when volumes dictate.

Requirements:

Must-have

  • 3+ years of experience in recoveries or debt collection.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and analytical abilities.
  • Availability to work shifts within the hours of 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required, as you will regularly interact with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs.

Nice-to-have

  • Working knowledge of Federal and Provincial Regulations surrounding student loans.
  • Good understanding of consumer lending products such as: visas, overdrafts, personal, and business loans.
  • Collection highway experience.
