Lightspeed is a high-growth company that offers an exciting opportunity to join its team as a Manager, Data Engineering. Located in Canada, the company operates within EST/EDT hours and offers flexible work environments, including fully remote, partially remote, or office-based options.
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced leader with a solid background in data and analytics engineering to head our Data function in North America. As a Manager, Data Engineering, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and growing a high-performing data engineering team. Your goal will be to cultivate an inclusive and inspiring working culture while driving technical excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities- Proactively drive the data vision and strategy across the Capital product vertical.
- Guide, motivate, and grow a new and fast-evolving team of data engineers as they solve complex problems in the Capital domain.
- Directly manage a team in collaboration with a Technical Lead.
- Work closely with architects, Product Managers, engineering leadership, and stakeholders to drive team priorities and roadmaps.
- Identify, communicate, and remove impediments and risks to delivery within the team and across Financial Services.
- Plan and further the professional growth of individual team members, including 1-1s, performance reviews, ongoing feedback, goal-setting, and promotions.
- Report up to engineering leadership and stakeholders on team progress and status.
- Finding and hiring top talent for your team and the wider organization.
- Provide technical and process guidance to the team during delivery.
- Experience leading a team of data engineers through the successful delivery of projects.
- Deep knowledge of data architecture, modeling, and visualization tools.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python (or equivalent language).
- Professional experience in agile development and continuous delivery of best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to personally coach, mentor, and drive individuals and overall teams.
- Strong passion for continuous learning and improvement.
