Head of English Department

We are seeking an exceptional Head of English to join our team of passionate educators at Universal American School in Dubai. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and developing our English department, ensuring that our students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for success in an ever-changing world.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the English department, ensuring that our students receive a world-class education in English language and literature.
- Develop and implement curriculum plans that meet the needs of our students, aligning with the US curriculum and New York State Standards.
- Recruit, train, and develop a team of highly skilled English teachers, providing coaching and mentoring to ensure that they are equipped to deliver outstanding lessons.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that our students receive a holistic education that prepares them for success in all areas of life.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the English department, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to address these.
- Develop and maintain relationships with parents and the wider community, ensuring that they are informed about the work of the English department and the progress of their children.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field, plus a certified teaching qualification such as B.Ed/M.Ed.
- At least 5 years of teaching experience, with a proven track record of leading and managing a high-performing English department.
- Experience of teaching in a diverse, international school environment, with a strong understanding of the US curriculum and New York State Standards.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of teachers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- A passion for teaching and learning, with a commitment to delivering outstanding lessons and experiences for our students.
