Sonographer - Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiac Care

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Fraser Health. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts, and echocardiography.
Key Responsibilities- Perform ultrasound procedures on patients, including positioning, probe placement, and image acquisition
- Enter patient information into the diagnostic imaging information system and image processing systems as required
- Explain procedures to patients and monitor their comfort level to ensure they are at ease while obtaining required results
- Assist in procedural rooms, including setting up biopsy trays and assisting the radiologist/cardiologist with interventional procedures
- Monitor patient during procedures, observing and responding to possible contrast media reactions or other emergency situations
- Check resultant images for technical quality and completeness, prepare technical worksheets, and discuss images with the radiologist/cardiologist to ensure examinations address designated requirements
- Facilitate the workflow of designated work area, including checking information on requisitions, regulating inpatient examination time, and arranging for transportation of patients
- Monitor equipment performance and perform quality control duties in accordance with recommended manufacturers' guidelines
- Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography
- Certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or applicable experience working in IV Therapy
- Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice for sonography procedures, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts, and cardiac sonography
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, co-workers, physicians, and other health care staff
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment and work independently and in collaboration with others
