Job Title: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of sonographic examinations, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts, and echocardiography.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform sonographic examinations on patients, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts, and echocardiography.
  • Position patients and place probes on designated areas to obtain images.
  • Utilize ultrasound and Doppler techniques to obtain images and labelling permanent records.
  • May perform venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed by the Radiologist/Cardiologist.
  • Assist in procedural rooms by setting up biopsy trays and assisting the radiologist/cardiologist with interventional procedures.
  • Monitor patient during procedures and respond to possible contrast media reactions or other emergency situations.
  • Check resultant images for technical quality and completeness and discuss images with the radiologist/cardiologist.
  • Facilitate the workflow of designated work area by checking information on requisitions and regulating inpatient examination time.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography.
  • Certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or applicable experience working in IV Therapy.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate will be required to work in a variety of settings, including hospitals and clinics.
