Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Description

Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is a key member of the Fraser Health team, responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform ultrasound examinations on patients, utilizing various techniques and equipment to obtain high-quality images and data.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
  • Enter relevant data into the diagnostic imaging information system, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with the latest sonography techniques and technologies.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, promoting a culture of excellence and patient-centered care.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography.
  • Certification with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
