Salary & Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including employer-paid extended health and dental benefits, as well as ongoing company social activities and celebrations.

Job Description

Senior Estimator

As a Senior Estimator at Prodigy Group, you will play a crucial role in managing project bids and tenders, utilizing your strong local industry-based experience. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing moderately complex projects and maintaining client relationships
  • BUILDING AND MAINTAINING EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH SPECIALTY SUBCONTRACTORS, SUPPLIERS, AND USER GROUPS THAT REFLECT AND SUPPORT PRODIGY'S CORE VALUES
  • RESEARCHING HISTORICAL TENDERING AND AWARD DATA, COMPLYING INFORMATION REQUESTED IN AN ORGANIZED AND CLEAR FORMAT FOR TEAM REFERENCE AND USE TOWARDS STRATEGIZING BID/TENDER OPPORTUNITIES
  • RESEARCHING AND COMMUNICATING DATA ON CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY LABOR AND MATERIAL COST TRENDS
  • MAINTAINING AND CONSTANTLY UPDATING TENDER/SUPPLIER LISTS ACCORDING TO VARYING PROJECT AND COMPANY REQUIREMENTS BY SOURCING AND QUALIFYING NEW SUBCONTRACTORS AND SUPPLIERS, REVIEWING AND COMMUNICATING WITH PRODIGY TEAM AT INITIAL PROJECT TENDER INVITE AND AT PROJECT COMPLETION TO DETERMINE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF EACH SUBCONTRACTOR/SUPPLIER AND ORGANIZING AND UPDATING THE LIST TO ENSURE EACH SUBCONTRACTOR/SUPPLIERS' DETAILS ARE NOTED FOR FUTURE REFERENCE
  • THOROUGHLY REVIEWING BID/RFP INVITATIONS, AS WELL AS PUBLIC/PRIVATE TENDER SITES/FORUMS, AND CLEARLY AND ACCURATELY PRESENTING INFORMATION TO PRODIGY SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM TO CONFIRM BID/PROPOSAL INTENT
  • ENSURING THE FLOW OF PROJECT INFORMATION IS PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND DOCUMENTED
  • ATTENDING PROJECT SITES FOR WALK THROUGHS AND MEETINGS
  • POSSESSED THE ABILITY TO INDEPENDENTLY CREATE FINELY DETAILED CLASS D TO A CONSTRUCTION COST ESTIMATES
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • LOCAL EXPERIENCE IN ESTIMATING INTERIOR RENOVATION/FIT-OUT AND GROUND-UP COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION AS A GENERAL CONTRACTOR AND/OR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of all disciplines of construction documents (architectural, design, mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and landscaping)
  • Knowledge of construction science, sequence of work, construction contracts and construction law, construction health & safety, and Ontario and other regional/provincial building codes
  • Ability to use MS Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other related software
Work Environment

This role requires working in an office environment, with occasional site visits. You will be required to sit at a desk, participate in remote and in-person meetings, send emails, make phone calls, and perform other tasks as needed.
