Job Overview


We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to lead our Estimating team on this historic project. As a Senior Estimator with ONxpress Transportation Partners, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the project's success and contributing to the future of transportation in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.


Key Responsibilities


The successful candidate will be responsible for:



  • Leading and mentoring a team of estimators to provide expert guidance and foster a collaborative environment
  • Utilizing extensive experience in construction estimating across diverse scopes of work, including civil, structures, track, and stations
  • Conducting comprehensive reviews of drawings and tender documents to grasp the complete scope of work and submission requirements
  • Demonstrating expertise in design models and integrated digital delivery (IDD) software for precise project scope evaluation and quantity generation
  • Developing meticulous bills of quantities (BOQ) by leveraging experience and employing various advanced techniques
  • Leveraging a decade-long experience to establish material price lists, labor costs, equipment requirements, and assemble crews while accurately pricing BOQ items
  • Utilizing an extensive network and deep knowledge of the industry to obtain competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising on quality
  • Thoroughly researching historical data to compile insightful summary reports and establish robust estimating guidelines for the project
  • Maintaining meticulous records of working documents as essential backup for estimating figures
  • Providing valuable insights into the design process, leveraging vast knowledge to ensure a seamless transition from planning to execution
  • Collaborating closely with stakeholders, including project managers and executives, to deliver accurate and comprehensive estimates that align with project objectives

Requirements and Qualifications


The ideal candidate will possess:



  • Over 10 years of hands-on experience as an estimator in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully estimating projects of significant scale and complexity
  • A solid educational foundation with a university degree or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and comprehending complex construction drawings and blueprints
  • In-depth understanding of construction methodologies, contracts, and cost control techniques
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Proven leadership capabilities, enabling you to guide and inspire your team to achieve outstanding results
  • Advanced proficiency in standard Microsoft software (Excel, Word, etc.), with additional experience in Adobe, Visio, and Bluebeam
  • Impeccable time management and organizational skills, ensuring efficiency in time-sensitive situations
  • A results-oriented mindset with an unwavering commitment to quality and excellence

Estimated Salary


$150,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience
