Job Title: Woodlands Director

AV Group NB Inc. is a leading global company in the viscose staple fiber market, with a unique business model that spans from forestry to fashion.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Woodlands Director to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing and providing leadership for the harvesting, planning, and silviculture operations on AV Group's Crown Timber Licenses and Freehold Lands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver Woodlands budget in a challenging wood market
  • Deliver high quality and cost-effective wood to our two NB Mills located in Nackawic and Atholville
  • Maintain healthy wood inventories by species and form according to our safety stocks policy
  • Work closely with Unit Heads and Central Operations to find ways to reduce wood costs and improve fiber yield and quality
  • Negotiate wood contracts for price and volume with market participants and the government alike under the terms of AVG
  • Understand the impact of the Woodlands department decisions and how they impact the company's P&L
  • Effectively build collaborative business networks within and outside AVG
  • Provide leadership to the Woodlands team and the AVG team as such
  • Represent the company as required in sustainability forums and conferences
  • Live our safety culture and be a safety ambassador in the field
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in Forestry or Forestry Engineering
  • MBA considered a plus
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite
  • Strong commercial skills
