About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Woodlands Director to join our team at AV Group NB Inc. in Nackawic, New Brunswick. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing and providing leadership for the harvesting, planning, and silviculture operations on our Crown Timber Licenses and Freehold Lands.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective woodlands management strategies to deliver high-quality and cost-effective wood to our mills;
- Maintain healthy wood inventories by species and form, adhering to our safety stocks policy;
- Negotiate wood contracts with market participants and the government to secure optimal prices and volumes;
- Collaborate with Unit Heads and Central Operations to reduce wood costs and improve fiber yield and quality;
- Provide leadership to the Woodlands team and ensure the successful execution of operations and deliverables;
- Ensure compliance with all relevant sustainable certifications and credentials, such as FSC, PEFC, and SFI;
- Represent the company in sustainability forums and conferences, promoting our commitment to sustainability;
- Live our safety culture and promote a safe working environment for all employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry or Forestry Engineering;
- MBA considered a plus;
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the industry;
- A proven commitment to safety and sustainability;
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong commercial and financial skills;
- High levels of resilience and adaptability;
- A passion for sustainable forestry practices and a commitment to excellence.
