Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced data protection leader to lead our cross-functional and enterprise-wide data protection function. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data protection strategy, ensuring the security and compliance of sensitive data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and classify data.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data protection strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and classify sensitive data, and ensure that it is properly protected and compliant with relevant regulations.
- Lead and oversee the cross-functional and enterprise-wide data protection function, ensuring that sensitive data is identified, classified, tagged, and protected.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups and leadership to ensure that sensitive and proprietary data is appropriately tagged and the associated protection measures are configured to protect it to ensure security and compliance with applicable data privacy and information security regulations and customer requirements.
- Continuously evaluate the data loss program for efficacy.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the organization's data protection standards in responding to due diligence requests and managing through any data loss incidents.
- Lead cross-functional team members through an indirect reporting relationship.
- Review, prioritize, and recommend data protection improvements as they relate to the achievement of business goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or demonstrated significant expertise in data protection through practical experience.
- 10+ years of progressive and relevant work experience, with demonstrated leadership skills leading diverse information security teams/functions.
- One or more relevant professional certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA, SSCP, CEH, etc.).
- Understanding of the legal, regulatory, and/or customer requirements for data protection.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of data protection technologies and solutions, such as encryption, access controls, and backup and recovery solutions (CASB, DLP, NGFWs, etc.).
- The ability to identify and assess potential risks to data and implement appropriate measures to mitigate them.
- The ability to communicate data protection policies and procedures effectively and provide training to employees to ensure compliance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplined environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks with demanding deadlines.
