Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced Legal Director, Privacy and Data Protection to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our Global Privacy Program, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our privacy and data protection strategy in Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of RBI's Global Privacy and Data Protection Program in Canada
  • Design and implement privacy processes, protocols, and controls to ensure compliance with global data privacy laws
  • Provide legal advice and support to business stakeholders on privacy and data protection matters
  • Oversee the legal and regulatory compliance for privacy, security, and data matters in Canada
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives and goals
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or JD and a member in good standing with a provincial or territorial law society
  • 10-15 years of post-Bar admission experience, preferably in a combination of law firm and in-house experience
  • 5-10 years of relevant privacy, data protection, and compliance experience
  • Sophisticated knowledge of global data privacy laws, with a focus on data privacy laws in Canada, the Canadian provinces, the EU, and the US
  • Experience implementing privacy management programs and collaborating with data protection supervisory authorities
