Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Branch Operations Manager to join our team at Talent-icit. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead our operations in heavy lifting services, overseeing activities from planning to execution.

Main Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, direct, control, and evaluate branch operational activities and fleet maintenance according to business objectives and company strategies.
  • Maintain close ties with other business units to ensure collaboration and coordination to meet business objectives.
  • Establish shared priorities and resolve operational issues promptly and effectively.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring regular and thorough client relationship management.

Operations
  • Responsible for planning activities assigned by the immediate supervisor, including overall work planning (equipment preparation, subcontracting, labor distribution, etc.).
  • Ensure appropriate work methods and applicable procedures are followed, conducting necessary risk assessments for all projects and determining preventive measures as needed.
  • Ensure all equipment is functional and ready for work, assign personnel based on task nature and duration, coordinate with subcontractors, and synchronize work with clients.
  • Oversee project execution on-site to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure operators conduct daily equipment inspections and perform required maintenance.

Business Development and Customer Service
  • Contribute to building, maintaining, and enhancing client relationships by addressing their needs, assessing them, and providing necessary support.
  • Gather relevant information and recommendations for project execution.
  • Regularly visit work sites to identify and assess client needs.
  • Ensure proper preparation of estimates, bids, and solution proposals, validating them with the superior when necessary.

Quality, Health and Safety at Work, and Environment
  • Responsible for adhering to and enforcing all procedures, laws, and regulations related to quality, occupational health and safety, and the environment.
  • Ensure OHS briefing sessions are regularly organized with personnel under supervision for each project.
  • Monitor enforcement of safety measures, ensuring they are properly documented and managed.
  • Maintain regular communication with staff and clients to promote OHS as a primary company value.
  • Responsible for investigating, analyzing, and documenting OHS issues under supervision.

Human Resource Management
  • Train and supervise employees.
  • Participate in drafting work methods and ensure task distribution among employees.
  • Take part in scheduling work hours, including planning vacations and leaves.
  • Ensure company policies and rules are respected.
  • Foster teamwork and cooperation among employees.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide regular feedback.

Recordkeeping, Administration, and Pricing
  • Collaborate with the corporate controller to ensure effective cash management (petty cash, bank deposits, etc.).
  • Ensure pricing is applied diligently and accurately.
  • Produce and/or approve administrative documentation as needed according to company policies (billing, payroll, purchase requests, etc.).

Requirements
  • University or college degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, construction engineering, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a field related to heavy industry or civil construction, as well as in managing or supervising work teams.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and French, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), effective for both supervision and teamwork, as well as client relations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Ability to work under pressure in situations with significant constraints (time, material, and human resources, changing weather conditions, etc.).
