Job Summary

The Financial Administrator will support the dynamic innovation offerings at Dalhousie, including Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), Lab2Market, IdeaHUB, and other programs. This role involves preparing expenditure claims for government reimbursement agencies and managing complex funding relationships with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares expenditure claims for government reimbursement agencies, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Conducts regular financial reviews of accounts and programs, providing updates and explaining variances and anomalies for CDL, Dal Innovates, and other I&E offerings.
  • Manages complex funding relationships with multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, private donors, and corporate partners.
  • Participates in audits, sourcing and relaying expense information, downloading and organizing payroll data, liaising with administrators, and maintaining an organized database.
  • Accumulates and prepares data for financial and metrics reporting for various stakeholders, including donors, senior university administration, and government officials.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or accounting, plus three years' experience in financial management and administration, programming, and coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing program/project budgets, preparing financial reporting/metrics, and adapting quickly in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and above-average ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and troubleshoot processes.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to collaborate and adapt regularly.
