About Working for a Member of Parliament:

As the Constituency Assistant - Social Media and Communications, you will support the Member of Parliament by providing a range of communications services and being the subject matter expert for social media and communications strategies. You will be responsible for managing and continuously improving the social media strategy on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X and other social media accounts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and provide continuous improvement to the social media strategy
  • Update the Members' website by staying abreast of best practices and trends, while responding to the needs of constituents and maximizing exposure
  • Create and execute external communications, such as social media content, videos, press releases, Members' news, website news, blog, mailers, articles, email updates, newsletters, Davenport letters and media interviews
  • Lead the creation and editing of communications pieces
  • Produce visually appealing graphic designs and videos for the Members website, social media platforms and newsletters and format documents for distribution such as presentations or reports
  • Support and assist in the planning of community events, outreach activities and official visits

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in communications, journalism, business administration or a related field or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in an office setting providing communications and media support
  • Experience in planning and maintaining a brand through multiple social media platforms
  • Experience creating images and videos for social media and ability to actively participate in social media
  • Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and work independently to efficiently manage multiple and concurrent projects in a high-stress environment

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year.
