About us:

The office of Julie Dzerowicz, Member of Parliament for Davenport is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Constituency Assistant – Social Media and Communications position.


The constituency office delivers for Davenport by getting things done for constituents. They are accountable, transparent and strive to find the best solutions for their clients and neighbours. As the Constituency Assistant – Social Media and Communications, you will support the Member of Parliament by providing a range of communications services and being the subject matter expert for social media and communications strategies.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide continuous improvement to the social media strategy on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X and other social media accounts;
  • Update the Members’ website by staying abreast of best practices and trends, while responding to the needs of constituents and maximizing exposure;
  • Create and execute external communications, such as social media content, videos, press releases, Members’ news, website news, blog, mailers, articles, email updates, newsletters, Davenport letters and media interviews;
  • Lead the creation and editing of communications pieces;
  • Produce visually appealing graphic designs and videos for the Members website, social media platforms and newsletters and format documents for distribution such as presentations or reports;
  • Support Member’s advertising strategy in accordance with the budget;
  • Collaborate with the constituency team to support constituents and take appropriate action to resolve concerns and inquiries;
  • Support and assist in the planning of community events, outreach activities and official visits.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in communications, journalism, business administration or a related field or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an office setting providing communications and media support;
  • Knowledge of media relations management principles, Canadian politics, current events and the political and environment climate;
  • Experience in planning and maintaining a brand through multiple social media platforms;
  • Experience creating images and videos for social media and ability to actively participate in social media;
  • Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and work independently to efficiently manage multiple and concurrent projects in a high‑stress environment;


Asset qualifications:

  • Experience planning events and supporting project coordination;
  • Experience volunteering or working for a political organization (Federal, Provincial, Municipal, or other);
  • Portuguese language proficiency;
  • Knowledge of the riding of Davenport.

Additional information

Job title: Constituency Assistant – Social Media and Communications

Location: Toronto, Ontario (Monday to Friday)

Schedule: Regular Full-Time, office hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Salary: To be discussed + attractive benefits package
