Sessional Instructor: Academic Writing and Critical Thinking for ESL Students

Job Title: Sessional Instructor: Essay and the Argument: ELL, Faculty of Arts and Science
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced instructor to teach a course on academic writing and critical thinking for ESL students in the Faculty of Arts and Science at OCAD University.
Responsibilities:
- Teach a course on academic writing and critical thinking for ESL students, focusing on grammar, composition, vocabulary building, and research writing and documentation of sources.
- Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, critiques, and grading.
- Assess student learning and provide feedback.
- Contribute to the development of the ESL program and participate in departmental meetings and activities.
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level, preferably in an ESL program.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment.
Terms of Employment: Sessional appointments are fixed-term annual contracts. Sessional compensation includes a per-course pay scale with salary level of $6,871.00 (per 0.5 credit course) plus 7% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay, per the provisions of the Employment Standards Act.
