Calgary, Alberta, Canada Hull Services Full time

Hull Services is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families in overcoming challenges and building resilience. We are seeking a culturally sensitive program assistant to join our team in delivering culturally specific programming for Indigenous families.

The Braiding the Sweetgrass program is a unique approach that blends traditional healing practices with Western understanding of brain development and the effects of trauma. As a program assistant, you will work alongside BTS facilitators and elders to create a safe and respectful environment for participants. Your role will involve assisting in group delivery, contributing to group preparation, and supporting administrative duties.

We are looking for an individual with experience and ability to relate to Indigenous children, families, and elders. You should have cultural awareness and understanding of the effects of intergenerational trauma. A minimum certificate with a preference for a diploma or degree in human services or social sciences is required. You should also be energetic, fun, and dedicated to supporting Indigenous children and families.

The ideal candidate will have experience facilitating groups, good time management skills, and the ability to relate and work effectively with coworkers. Flexibility and availability for evening and weekend work are also essential. A Police Information Check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, is required prior to employment. A Child Intervention Record Check is also required upon commencement of employment.

We offer a supportive work environment and opportunities for professional growth and development. If you are passionate about working with Indigenous families and communities, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
