About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Communications Manager to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications plans to enhance public understanding and confidence in our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Communications Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to promote the Government of Nova Scotia's initiatives and programs.
  2. Media Relations: Serve as a liaison between the Government of Nova Scotia and the media, providing accurate and timely information to ensure positive media coverage.
  3. Content Creation: Develop and maintain engaging content for various channels, including social media, website, and press releases.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including police agencies, government departments, and community groups.
  5. Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities in communications and media.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in journalism, public relations, electronic and digital media communication, or a closely related field.
  • Several years of recent, related work experience in communications or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
