About the Role:
The Student Success Advisor will work closely with students from diverse backgrounds, providing holistic advising to support their academic and career goals. This involves taking into consideration students' strengths, interests, and needs throughout their university journey.
- You will provide proactive and solution-focused advising to students in transition, transfer students, and those who may be experiencing challenges. Your goal is to empower students to make informed decisions about their educational plans and future careers.
- Foster strong relationships with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders by demonstrating empathy, cultural competence, and excellent communication skills.
- Work collaboratively with the Manager, Student Success Advising, to develop, implement, and assess programs and services that promote student learning, development, and retention.
- Maintain accurate records and analyze data to identify trends and areas for process improvement, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
- Establish partnerships with internal and external resources to provide comprehensive support to students, promoting their overall well-being and academic success.
About You:
We are looking for a highly motivated and empathetic individual with a passion for student success. To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- An undergraduate degree in a related field, preferably with 3-5 years of experience working with students in a post-secondary setting.
- Previous experience in academic and/or career advising/counseling, with a proven track record of supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different communication styles and needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
