Our Hamlet Childcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Childcare Support Specialist to join our team.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. This role involves bathing, diapering, and feeding infants and toddlers, as well as maintaining daycare equipment and assisting with record-keeping.

We are looking for someone who is able to multitask, has excellent oral communication skills, and can work effectively in a team environment. The ideal candidate will also have a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and ensuring the safety and well-being of our young learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers;
  • Maintain daycare equipment and ensure a safe and healthy environment;
  • Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote child development;
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed;
  • Assist with record-keeping and reporting on child progress;
  • Engage children in activities such as storytelling, singing, and crafts;
  • Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits;
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods;
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents or guardians;
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss child progress and issues.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education or a related field;
  • Experience working with children in a childcare setting;
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively;
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong commitment to providing high-quality care and ensuring child safety and well-being;
  • Certifications in First Aid and CPR would be an asset.
