Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity to join the Government of Northwest Territories as a Project Officer/Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the implementation of various capital projects and major operations and maintenance projects for the Department, including highways, airports, and marine facilities and related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the implementation of capital projects and major operations and maintenance projects for the Department.
  • Advise on highway maintenance operations and assist in gravel resurfacing and dust control projects.
  • Oversee the construction and general maintenance of the Peel River and Arctic Red River ice crossings.
  • Develop and analyze short and long-term construction projects.
  • Manage construction projects throughout all stages of development (planning to completion).
Requirements
  • Civil Engineering Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology Supervisory Training.
  • Class 5 NWT Driver's Licence.
  • Design and construction experience - 4 years for Degree holders, and 8 years for Diploma holders or longer depending on knowledge and skills required.
  • Highway Design Experience in AutoCAD Environment.
  • At least one year of experience supervising staff in a cross-cultural setting.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in an outdoor environment to observe, survey, inspect, travel, and direct staff and contractors.
