Job Summary

This position is located in the central office of the Government of Northwest Territories and reports to the LAN Administrator/Technical.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service and maintain computer operation and equipment for all Government of Northwest Territories offices in addition to the central office.
  • Assist in the acquisition of new hardware and software as well as ensuring proper documentation and submission of related financial reports as required.
  • Interact with Government of Northwest Territories staff, other government departments, and non-government agencies to assist staff with the functionality and operation of various PC-based hardware and software applications.
  • Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
    • Completion of a bachelor's degree in a Computer or Information Systems related field is the minimum educational requirement.
    • The incumbent must have proven application experience and systems analyst skills.
    • The incumbent should have at least two years of experience.
  • Experience supporting wireless network access and the associated protocols is an asset.
  • Experience working in government offices would be an asset.
  • The responsibilities of this position require the incumbent to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to support users of all levels of ability from novice to expert is essential.
  • The incumbent should have the ability to conceptualize, plan, and effectively implement a change initiative throughout the organization.
  • They should also have the ability to listen, understand, and respond effectively to other people, and to help or serve people to meet their needs.
  • The incumbent must have a valid driver's license and have the ability to drive and travel by car and on small airplanes.
Requirements
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • Candidates must provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector check.
