Job Summary

This Therapy Assistant position supports services in Occupational Therapy at the Alberta Health Services, including homecare, acute and continuing care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist.
  • Contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services, including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum, for all ages.
  • Provide non-client service provision and work effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Display professionalism and strong ethics in client-centered care and participation in care teams.
  • Demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency.
  • Participate in quality improvement, program planning, and student supervision.
Requirements
  • Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider from the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
  • One year of experience working as a therapy assistant in a rural setting or as an occupational or physiotherapy assistant in homecare, outpatients, or continuing care.
  • Experience working with aids to daily living mobility equipment, including wheelchairs and walker maintenance, and client education.
