Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Reading Recovery Teacher to join our team at School District #60 (Peace River North). As a Reading Recovery Teacher, you will play a critical role in supporting the literacy development of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, analyze, and summarize data from the Observation of Early Literacy Achievement and Daily Running Records
  • Plan and respond to the literacy needs of students using the procedures in a Reading Recovery lesson
  • Build on oral language, reading, and writing activities that meet the learning needs of all students
  • Monitor and share student progress with colleagues and parents
  • Collaborate with Reading Recovery colleagues and other school team members to support student learning
Requirements
  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
  • Reading Recovery Teacher Certificate (or willing to train)
  • Strong understanding of literacy acquisition and the importance of using all available teaching time for assessment, selection, and instruction
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, administrators, and other team members
