Job Description

Job Title: Reading Recovery Teacher - Part Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Reading Recovery Teacher to join our team on a part-time basis. As a Reading Recovery Teacher, you will be responsible for providing targeted literacy support to students in need, working closely with classroom teachers to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one literacy support to students in need, using the Reading Recovery approach
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement targeted literacy plans
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • Communicate regularly with teachers and other school staff to ensure effective support for students
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices in literacy instruction

Requirements:

  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate
  • Reading Recovery Teacher Certificate (or willingness to train)
  • Strong understanding of literacy acquisition and the importance of using all available teaching time for assessment, selection, and instruction
  • Ability to administer, analyze, and summarize data from the Observation of Early Literacy Achievement and Daily Running Records
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and other school staff
