About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist (Donor Care Associate) to join our dynamic Donor Centre team in Toronto, Ontario.

The Donor Centre team is responsible for collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products that save lives every day.

In this role, you will perform phlebotomy in the collection process in accordance with health and safety standards, working face-to-face with donors, team members, and volunteers to provide safe and quality service during each stage of the collection process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build a positive donor experience.
  • Monitor donors for safety and comfort, provide post-donation care, and respect donor privacy.
  • Ensure safe processing and handling of blood products.
  • Work with others to assist in the collection of whole blood and apheresis blood components that save lives daily.
  • Assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment for mobile events within our communities.
Requirements
  • Completion of high school.
  • Completion of an accredited training program in phlebotomy or one year of related experience.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
  • A second language is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience.

What to Expect
  • Shifts and hours will vary, and you must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs.
  • Travel will be required for mobile events in our communities, and transportation will be provided by Canadian Blood Services.
  • Physical requirements for the role include the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs).
