Preoperative Assessment Clinic Clerk IV

Job Description:The Preoperative Assessment Clinic (POAC) strives to deliver exceptional patient care and satisfaction. As a Clerk IV in POAC, you will provide clerical support to the clinic, scheduling patients for appointments within POAC and registering patients for Surgical Services or treatment within the Surgical Suite setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Registers patients upon arrival to the Surgical Suite and POAC clinic.
- Maintains accurate patient demographics and admission/discharge/transfer information in the ADT system.
- Receives and processes OR surgical bookings from Surgeons' offices, ensuring completeness before proceeding.
- Utilizes the SIMS (CPM) scheduling system to enter booking dates and assign case numbers.
- Schedules patients for anesthesia consults and preoperative teaching as required.
- Maintains patient charts and assembles them according to correct charting sequence after patient discharge.
- Completes and mails letters for patients requiring pre-op work redone, monitors return pre-op work, and places it in patient charts for review.
- Grade 12 education (MB Standards)
- Completion of a recognized medical terminology course or program, level I and II (or equivalent)
- Two years of experience in a hospital or clinic setting
- One year of experience in scheduling patient procedures/tests
- Demonstrated working knowledge of EHR applications applicable to a hospital setting, including ADT, Clinical Systems, and Electronic Health Record Documentation
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), as well as internet applications and IT skills
- Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
