Physiotherapist - Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Physiotherapist, you will play a critical role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments to determine physical diagnoses and develop holistic treatment programs
- Develop and implement exercise programs, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical, and hydrotherapy techniques to assist patients in regaining and/or maintaining optimal function
- Communicate effectively with other healthcare disciplines, patients, family members, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy treatment, and patient management
- Supervise and evaluate physiotherapy students and supervise physiotherapy assistants and aides
- Collaborate with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participate in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solve problems and share responsibilities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
- Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body)
- Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
- Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
- Previous experience in inpatient acute care considered an asset
- Previous experience in orthopedics, burns, and/or plastics considered an asset
- Annual Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System training and certification (WHMIS)
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Working Conditions:
- Long assignment, Part-time (60%); 45 hours bi-weekly
- Approximately a 12-month assignment
Compensation and Incentives:
$42.89 Hourly
