Job Summary

The University of British Columbia is seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our team. As a Counsellor, you will provide specialized counselling support for students who have been sexually assaulted, as well as a range of other counselling services for UBC students. You will also consult with UBC faculty and staff, and educate the campus community to increase awareness of the nature and impact of sexual violence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counselling with specialization in counselling survivors of sexual assault.
  • Conduct assessment and provide referral within Counselling Services and to other University and community resources as appropriate.
  • Liaise with the RCMP and Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC) and the Sexual Assault Service, Vancouver General Hospital to coordinate support for students who have been sexually assaulted.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholder groups to develop and deliver programs that increase students' awareness of the nature and impact of sexual violence, and strengthen students' self-management capacities.
  • Liaise with external community stakeholders, professional organizations, post-secondary institutions, and other partners to support effective campus programming and services to address sexual violence.
  • Collaborate with student groups, faculties, departments, and other student services to develop and deliver programs and services that enhance student learning and wellbeing.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Counselling Psychology or a related field.
  • Certification as a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors.
  • Eligible for professional certification in British Columbia.
  • Minimum of five years experience in Clinical Counselling.
  • Experience supervising Master's level practicum students.
  • University or college counselling experience preferred.
