What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a talented and results-driven Technical System Analyst to join our team at the Royal Bank of Canada. As a Technical System Analyst, you will be responsible for handling maintenance and support of multiple Windows, Linux, and cloud applications in our IDEA portfolio. You will partner across IT, assigned business lines, and 3rd party vendors to analyze issues and technical system needs to resolve business issues and provide business solutions.

What will you do?

  • Investigate, resolve, and report on medium to highly complex technical issues requiring business application understanding.
  • Work closely with business clients to understand priorities and impact and provide timely and accurate reports to management and end-users on the status of critical systems processes.
  • Proactively identify and act on emerging issues and work with Development teams to resolve them in the short and long term.
  • Learn about multiple applications and technologies and how they interact to provide cross-function support.
  • Raise support tickets and work closely with vendors when additional support and learning are required for vendor-developed applications.
  • Participate in Agile development projects to represent the interests of maintaining Production application stability and adhering to Production readiness standards.
  • Work on IT Risk deliverables, participate in DR exercises, help in DR planning and design, and interact with various auditors to ensure that applications function according to published RBC IT Risk Standards.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • 2+ years of experience in a production support role and supporting multiple applications.
  • Strong analytical skill set and strong communication skills to communicate effectively in both technical and business terms.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL Standards, Methodologies, SDLC, and audit requirements.
  • Experience working with teams across various geographies and familiar and comfortable with Change Management activities.
  • 2+ years of experience in Linux technology platform and relational database.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ticketing tools like ServiceNow.
  • Understanding of SDLC model.
  • Windows (IIS) and devops tools like – UCD, OCP, Helios etc.
  • Experience in supporting applications from remote locations/hybrid as the main team is situated elsewhere.
  • Knowledge of Postgres DB, network, domains etc.
