Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide financial reporting and data analysis to the Director of Safeguard & Administration.
  2. Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standardized accepted accounting practices.
  3. Review financial processes and procedures to ensure efficiencies, safeguard financial assets, and ensure adherence to legal requirements.
Business Intelligence:
  1. Locate, assess, and define financial process improvement opportunities and recommend course of action.
  2. Conduct thorough data analysis to identify business opportunities and areas of improvement.
Data Collection & Analysis:
  1. Collect and interpret financial data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and generate reports.
  2. Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  3. Monitor and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers.
  4. Assist in the preparation and submission of financial statements and reports.
  5. Assist in the audit process and ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.
  6. Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard financial assets.
Organizational/Departmental Support:
  1. Work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  2. Support the development of comprehensive business plans, including the identification of goals, objectives, deliverables, and key performance indicators.
  3. Support organizational and departmental budgeting and forecasting activities.
  4. Track and manage organizational expenses.
  5. Conduct financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
  6. Assist in the audit process and ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.
  7. Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard financial assets.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, or a related field.
  2. CPA designation or equivalent experience, Canadian Payroll Certification.
  3. Experience with Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care reporting practices.
  4. 3-5 years experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role.
Knowledge:
  1. Solid understanding of financial procedures, processes, and regulations and ability to explain them in easily understandable terms.
  2. Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Great Plains, Quadrant) and MS Excel.
  3. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  4. Strong attention to detail.
  5. Solid understanding of non-profit business operations and processes.
Skills:
  1. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  2. Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to explain complex data and technical concepts in simple terms.
  3. Strong emotional intelligence skills regarding relationship management, social awareness, self-awareness, and self-management.
  4. Well-developed thinking skills, including divergent and convergent thinking and crystallized and fluid intelligence.
  5. Proactive problem solver with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:
  1. Location: Hybrid Work arrangement (3 days in office) available.
