Mitchell Plastics is seeking an experienced Automation Designer to join our team. This role will be responsible for designing, building, and start-up of assembly equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop design concepts into complete functioning 3D CAD designs, adhering to customer requirements and standards.
- Generate design drawings, design components and mechanisms for manufacturing, and create Bill of Materials and Detail prints.
- Assist with project quoting, interact with Process Engineers, Project Management, Automation Specialists, vendors, and customers.
- Support Jr. Automation Designers on their assigned projects, assist in complete start-up and commissioning of automation systems, and assist with field inspections.
- Be actively involved in continuous improvement activities, communicate opportunities for improvement through the appropriate channels, and immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions.
- Experience in designing, building, and start-up of assembly equipment.
- Understanding of PLC-based machine logic.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in automation design.
- Trade certification and/or college diploma in Machine Tool Building or Automation Design.
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS mechanical design software.
- Understanding of machine guarding and other safety requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced/team environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge in design, development, and implementation of robotic systems, knowledge of pneumatic circuits and systems, and knowledge of PLC-based equipment.
