Student Ambassador, Career Services Liaison

Job Summary:
The Student Ambassador, Career Services Liaison will play a key role in fostering a community of student volunteers interested in promoting the Career Centre's workshops, programs, and services to Douglas College students. This position will also assist staff in increasing student engagement and sign-ups with all Career Centre activities, workshops, and programs, as well as creating and updating internal promotional materials for the Career Centre.

Douglas College is committed to providing high-quality education and training to its students. As a Career Services Liaison, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the college's staff and students to promote the Career Centre's services and resources.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the supervisor in preparing training materials for new Career Centre volunteers prior to their assignment.
- Attend onboarding sessions and regular team meetings.
- Support the supervisor in helping student volunteers enhance their knowledge base of career development skills and gain a sense of responsibility for their community.
- Assist the supervisor in preparing the Weekly Friday Career Centre Volunteers Newsletter.
- Assist the supervisor in designing, writing, editing, and reformatting digital and printed communications for students, faculty, and employers to keep promotional items fresh and current.
- Assist the supervisor in communicating via Career Centre social media platforms with students to learn about the services the Career Centre provides to all current and past students.
- Assist the Coordinator, Business Development Events with event planning and marketing, and additional activities related to the promotion of the Career Centre.
- Use testimonials from employers, faculty advisors, and students for publication on Career Centre social media platforms.
- Support the Coordinator, Business Development Promotions in digital marketing, program review focus group events, and contact database updates.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Effective communication skills – able to approach people to share the benefits of the Career Centre services.
- Savvy user of social media – Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Strong writing skills.
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
- Previous experience in a sales environment.
