Job Title: Mammalian Molecular Biology Lecturer

We are seeking a highly qualified lecturer to teach a course on mammalian molecular biology at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular physiology and pathophysiology research.

Course Description:

The course, PSL350, is a 3-week seminar that focuses on current advances in mammalian molecular biology. Students will extend their knowledge of molecular biology concepts to current scientific literature in mammalian physiology and apply these principles to disease and complex behaviors. The course will also cover bioethical issues raised by these techniques and their application.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and present a lecture on mass spectroscopy and proteomics on March 4 (10am-12noon) and run the corresponding practicum session on March 6 (3-5pm).
  2. Prepare unique exam questions for the mid-term test (with answer key for TA marking) and new make-up test questions, if required.
  3. Facilitate a small group topic activity (March 25 – April 3, which includes a lecture that does not overlap with class lectures, marking student lay summaries/critiques, and assessing student presentations).
Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a PhD in physiology or a related discipline and prior experience in molecular physiology and pathophysiology research. Prior experience in molecular physiology and pathophysiology teaching, as well as in facilitating active learning, is preferred.
