Job Title: Housing and Homelessness Program Supervisor

The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the urban Aboriginal population of the Greater Hamilton area. We are seeking a highly skilled and culturally sensitive individual to fill the role of Housing and Homelessness Program Supervisor.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and support to the Housing and Homelessness Supports and Services Department. This includes supervising staff, developing and implementing programs, and ensuring the delivery of culturally appropriate services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support staff in the Housing and Homelessness Supports and Services Department
  • Develop and implement programs to address the needs of urban Aboriginal clients
  • Ensure the delivery of culturally appropriate services to clients
  • Collaborate with community partners to promote the work of the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure the achievement of departmental goals and objectives
Requirements:
  • Two (2) year post-secondary education in Indigenous Studies, Social Service work, or a combination of equivalent and relevant education
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated and related work experience within an Indigenous organization or community, and within a social service setting
  • Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on the impacts of trauma, family violence, and community outreach
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in crisis intervention and prevention, de-escalation, debriefing, and guidance to resolve conflicts
  • Valid G driver's license is an asset
  • First Aid or CPR certification is an asset
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification is an asset
