Job Title: Supervisor (Bar)

Job Summary:

The AMS of UBC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supervisor (Bar) to join our team at the Pit Pub. As a key member of our food and beverage operations, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest service, ensuring a safe and efficient bar environment, and promoting our products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe liquor service and compliance with legal requirements and AMS standards
  • Achieve sales goals through upselling, recommending products, and providing timely service
  • Provide excellent guest service, handling cash transactions, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Supervise staff, deploy employees according to business needs, and maintain labor targets
  • Assist outlet management with supervision, assign employees, and ensure maximum safety for patrons and employees
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, demonstrate excellent grooming and uniform standards, and complete open/close checklists
  • Assess, order, and receive inventory, report operational problems and maintenance issues, and keep informed of upcoming events and promotions
  • Provide information to the public regarding all aspects of the bar's operations and work with the AMS mission statement and values to operate a successful department

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of bartending experience in a high-volume bar environment
  • Ability to do shift work, including daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • POS experience required, preferably Squirrel
  • Serving-It-Right Certification required
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 60kgs (132lbs), and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Food Safe Level 1 or higher an asset, Basic Security Training (BST) certification an asset
