Senior Counsel, Asset Management Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel, Asset Management to join our team at The Toronto-Dominion Bank (Canada). As a key member of our Legal Department, you will be responsible for providing strategic and practical legal advice to advance the objectives and strategies of our TD Wealth businesses, including TD Asset Management Inc. (TDAM).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on the launch and distribution of private pooled and alternative funds;
  • Providing legal support to TDAM's real estate, infrastructure, and private credit investment teams;
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements and documentation;
  • Providing legal and regulatory advice in relation to investment funds, portfolio management, and fund management services;
  • Working on strategic initiatives, including global distribution projects;
  • Working with internal stakeholders and managing external counsel to achieve business objectives;
  • Providing advice on corporate governance and other regulatory matters.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in a top law firm and/or in-house position practicing securities law, with experience advising on fund offerings and investment management activities;
  • Experience providing legal support to asset management firms, pension funds, or other buy-side participants would be an asset;
  • Critical thinking and excellent judgment, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple partners and stakeholders;
  • Superior communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior members of TD Bank's management team;
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities without sacrificing focus and attention to detail, and work independently to provide legal support on major projects in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
