Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the operation of recycling, organic and garbage vehicles in a highly safety conscious manner.

Key Duties

  • Drive and operate recycling, organic and garbage vehicles
  • Collect, load and unload leaf, brush, garbage, organics and recyclables
  • Check, lubricate, refuel and clean equipment and report any malfunctions to the Supervisor
  • Work in compliance with the Highway Traffic Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any deficiencies, unsafe situations or conditions to the Supervisor
  • Work in the spirit of team participation
  • Perform varied tasks and duties within the Solid Waste Division as required

Qualifications and Competencies

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced candidate who

  • possesses a High School (Grade 12) diploma or equivalent
  • has two (2) years experience driving and operating commercial vehicles and performing labour intensive duties
  • holds a valid DZ License with a satisfactory driver's abstract of no more than 3 demerit points
  • demonstrates corporate competencies of Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity and Teamwork

Important Information

This position receives 4% in lieu of vacation + 13% in lieu of all benefits in addition to hourly rate of pay. Qualified candidates will be contacted and required to pass the associated written and driving tests in order to move onto the interview. As a condition of employment, all new hires will be required to complete the pre-trip inspection training and pass the pre-trip inspection testing within 30 working days of starting position.
