Clinical Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Operational Stress Injuries Clinic team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will deliver mental health assessment and treatment services to Veterans and their families who are experiencing work-related psychological stress and trauma.
The successful candidate will provide education to various stakeholders, maintain contact with referring organizations, and utilize tele-mental health and other distance technologies to provide services in outlying communities. They will also work with the Canadian network of OSI clinics and follow the leadership of the Operational Stress Injuries National Network.
The OSI Psychologist will be responsible for carrying out OSI-specific research, including writing peer-reviewed grant proposals, and working in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies, and procedures of the NSHA and VAC guidelines for OSI clinics.
About You- Recognized doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology
- Registered or eligible for registration under the Psychologists Act of Nova Scotia
- CPA/APA accredited internship/residency (or equivalent) in clinical psychology
- Clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, substance use disorders, and PTSD using evidence-based approaches
- Training in evidence-based therapies for PTSD, depression, and anxiety disorders, such as PE, CPT, EMDR, CBT, BA, MBSR
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary service delivery model
- Experience in a military or police services environment
- Experience with assessment of police, veterans, and/or Canadian forces members with operational stress injuries
- Experience providing trauma-focused therapy
- Experience providing treatment in an outpatient community setting
- Sensitivity to the unique needs of military/police services personnel who are experiencing service-related mental health problems
- Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Effective mentoring and clinical supervision skills
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Competencies in other languages, French preferred
This is a permanent, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
