Aspire Bakeries, a leading North American baking company, is seeking a skilled Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join its team.

The estimated annual salary for this role is $80,000-$110,000 depending on experience and location.

Job Description

This position is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with food labeling regulations and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of national, state, and local food regulations, as well as industry standards.

The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments, including Marketing, Sales, and Innovation, to support product development and maintain accurate regulatory information for audits and customer requests.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and manage product specifications, labels, and packaging to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with food labeling regulations.
  • Manage the regulatory review process for new and reformulated products.
  • Create and maintain Finished Food Specifications (FFS) and product specification library on SharePoint.
  • Prepare labelling materials and documents as required.
  • Critically review technical documentation for compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Interact with external organizations to ensure compliance with programs such as Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO, Organic, Whole Grain, and more.
  • Support bakeries with regulatory and specification information for GFSI, third-party audits, and customer audits.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Science, preferably in Food Science, Nutrition, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the food industry, including food labeling.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office, Adobe, and nutritional database/software program.
  • Familiarity with US and Canadian food labeling regulations.
  • Bilingual Spanish and French knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of label-creation programs and SAP/SharePoint.
