Director of Community Services
The Director of Community Services is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the town's community services and infrastructure operations. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent management skills, and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Manage Municipal Operations: Oversee the town's infrastructure operations, including roads, bridges, landfills, airport, waste and recycling systems, and water systems.
- Provide Technical Expertise: Offer technical guidance and support to departmental staff to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Coordinate with Contractors and Consultants: Collaborate with external partners to implement capital work plans and achieve budget goals and Council objectives.
- Supervise Departmental Staff: Direct and supervise the town's Operations and Infrastructure department, covering road maintenance, winter control, bridges, and more.
- Represent the Department: Represent the department in community and governmental relations, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with drinking water and wastewater regulations, as well as other relevant legislation and policies.
- Manage Municipal Assets: Oversee the management of municipal buildings, plants, and fleet, ensuring optimal use and maintenance.
- Develop Departmental Goals: Develop and implement departmental goals, policies, and procedures, aligning with the town's overall objectives.
- Support Senior Leadership: Support the CAO and Municipal Council, attending management meetings as required, and providing strategic guidance and advice.
- Education: University degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technologist designation.
- Experience: ~5 years of management experience in infrastructure operations, with 3 years in municipal services.
- Skills: Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and regulations; experience managing staff in a unionized environment; proficiency in municipal public works, including roads and water systems; skilled in Engineering, GIS, Asset Management, and AutoCAD.
- Certifications: Valid G driver's license and satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
